This is my lovely low wooden ocarina from Peru 🇵🇪. I had to buy it for its magical, low, airy sound that fits perfectly in meditation music, ambient, or film music. The scale and large holes also make this instrument quite versatile and inspire me to improvise. Here is the famous tin whistle melody “Concerning hobbits” from The Lord of the Rings written by one and only Howard Shore. I love this tune so much! The Gemshorn, a historical wind instrument, part of the flute family, primarily played during the Renaissance. This one is made out of African domestic cattle. „The term Gemshorn is probably most familiar to people as an organ stop. However, organ builders of the 16th century borrowed this name from the so-called Gemshorn, likely to describe the soft yet carrying sound of that particular stop. They were referring to an instrument that had already existed for 400 years. It is made from an animal horn. The only known surviving example was found in 1913 in the Zeughaus in Berlin, though without precise information about its origin. This specimen, like the illustrations by Dürer, Virdung, and Agricola, is made from a goat’s horn, leaving the origin of the name still unclear. e. The Fula flute - also known as the tambin, is a traditional musical instrument of the Fula (Fulani or Peul) people, an ethnic group spread across West and Central Africa, including countries like Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Nigeria, and Niger. The flute is typically made from a hollowed-out wood or bamboo, and it has three finger holes. It is an end-blown flute, meaning the player blows into one end of the flute to produce sound. This instrument is traditionally used for expressing both joy and sorrow, playing an important role in Fulani folk music and pastoral life. The quenacho, also known as kenacho, is a traditional Andean wind instrument, a type of flute used in South American music. It is larger than the quena, another popular Andean flute, and is characterized by its deep, resonant sound. The quenacho is an important instrument in Andean folk music, particularly in the regions of Bolivia, Peru, and northern Argentina. It is commonly used in both solo performances and ensembles, often accompanying other traditional instruments like the charango (a small stringed instrument) and panpipes. Its sound is emblematic of the Andean highlands and is often used in music that evokes the natural landscapes and cultural heritage of the region.
